Welcome to Unforgettable 9-day Adventure

For 1,000 Million years the Franklin River has run free, indifferent to and unmolested by human kind. Today we are privileged to share it as one of the best expedition rafting trips in the world.

The Franklin River Rafting experience is more than just a rafting trip. An expedition with us is about sharing an adventure with like minded individual in one of the most wild and amazing places on earth for the adventure of a lifetime.

Of all expedition rivers the Franklin River in Tasmania’s World Heritage Area is without question one of the best in the world. With its impressive gorges, fun rapids and drinkable pure water the Franklin is a must for all outdoor enthusiasts.

On our 9 day trips we attempt to hike up to the summit of one of the most sought out peaks in the south-west wilderness, Frenchmans Cap, towering at a huge 1445m. We start from the Irenabyss campsite for our a 8-10 hour return hike that will test even the fittest hiker.

No previous rafting experience is necessary to participate, a basic level of fitness, a thirst for adventure and a love for the outdoors is all that you require. We take care of everything else.

We understand that your safety is paramount when embarking on an adventure the scale of the Franklin River and guarantee you are in the hands of capable professionals.

What a place, what a team, what an adventure, truly an experience of a lifetime! I am so grateful to these legends showing me the untouched beauty of the Franklin River while teaching me of the flora and history, feeding me like royalty and providing as much comfort as a remote wilderness adventure could possibly pack in. Highly recommend the trip and the company whole heartedly!

Your Trip Itinerary

What makes the Franklin River a true wilderness experience is that anything can happen. No trip down the Franklin River is ever exactly the same as the last. Weather, water levels and/or other unforeseen occurrences usually have the final say on what will be the plan for each day.

Our aim is to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip is had by all. Whilst we attempt to be as accurate as possible the following itinerary is representative of an average trip at low to medium water levels.

PLANNING
YOUR TRIP

GPS 2

You can get to Hobart from mainland Australia by flying directly to Hobart Airport (HBA) from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. Alternatively you can hop on the Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Melbourne to Devonport, followed by a drive or bus trip to Hobart. Flying is the fastest method, while the ferry is ideal for travellers who want to bring their own vehicle and have more time.

Insurance is strongly recommended for this trip. Check if your policy covers: cancellations and ambulance transport in Tasmania. If you’re unsure what to look for, we’re happy to help point you in the right direction.

It is entirely up to you and what you are looking for in a place of lodging. Being centrally located will make it easier for you on the departure day since we generally aim to meet up at one pick up location. Doing this avoids lengthy pick up driving and gives you more time on the river.
